My Blythe's new wig

March 24, 2009.

Today I received my new Blythe pink wig from eBay seller. It is a very nice pink color and made with good quality. I paid $13 US+$5 shipping. The wig is very easy to put on but it does make my Blythe's head look twice big.

I named my Blythe "Vinece", Vinece is a girl who loves cats very much, she cares about people and the things around her. She loves fashion, travel and arts.

我的愛貓 with Blythe

My cat is so jealous about Blythe!

It is so funny that my cat was very jealous when I was playing with my Blythe. I guess she doesn't like Blythe much... because she felt Blythe took my love and attention from her. :) Cats are so cute right?

She was trying to destroy my Blythe... and I captured the funny scene of them for memory :)

Beauty and the Beast! Rescue me!!!!!

my blue eyes are prettier than yours!!! I am gonna to cover your eyes so no one can see yours.

Pastel Makeup your Blythe!

Pastel Makeup your Blythe!

Pastel Eyeshadow and Blush is a great option if you want to experiment with soft makeup colors before committing to airbrushing or change your mind frequently. You will need to buy a small set of Chalk Pastels (not oil pastels), and sand-matte your Blythe first. It is almost impossible to get deep colors out of pastels - for intense makup, we recommend Airbrushing.

1. Blythe Pastel MakeupChoose your Pastel colors and draw on a white piece of paper with them, creating a fine dust on the surface. combine colors by drawing them alongside eachother. Wash your hands after handling the pastels so you don’t leave fingerprints on your Blythe.

2. Blythe Pastel MakeupTear a cotton ball in half and swirl it in the powder. Gently blow on the cotton ball to remove big clumps of dust. You can also use a makeup brush.

3. Blythe Pastel Makeup Gently tap and swish the color onto your blythe’s face in the desired area. Don’t rub the color in, you will pack the pastel into the matte surface and create a shine. Try layering different colors for different effects.

4. Blythe Pastel Makeup Blythe Pastel Makeup Blow off any excess powder left on her face. If you end up with smudges around her eye socket or fingerprints on her face, gently sand them off with your extra-fine sanding sponge that you used to matte her.

5. Blythe Pastel Makeup You can also use the sanding sponge to shape the eyeshadow before applying the blush. Here I have sharpened the corner of the eye.

6. It is not necessary to seal the pastels, but you will have to re-apply the makeup after a few months. I personally don’t use matte sprays, but if you choose to seal the makeup, I recommend Mr. Super Clear.

7. To remove pastel makeup, gently sand her face with your extra-fine sponge and blow the dust away. Do not get the pastels wet.

Japanese Blythe Type

March 07, 2009

I am searching the information regards Blythe Doll to help my reader to know more about Blythe Doll Type. I have come across found this article online at Blythe Doll. I am very appreciate her contribution. I would like to share the information here with all of you

Japanese Blythe Type:

There are many versions of the dolls and each version has its own specific details which are BL, EBL, SBL and RBL.

1. BL-Type Blythe:
In 2001-2002, Neo Blythe dolls influenced on the fashion because they have similar bodies with Licca. The first six Neo Blythe dolls were different from any other dolls which were produced during the same period of time in term of eyes and skin. Neo Blythe dolls have softer skin. Their eyes are more shiny, such as BL-0 Parco Limited, BL-1 Mondrian and BL-2 Hollywood.

2. EBL-Type Excellent Blythe:
The year 2003 was the first anniversary celebration for Takara Blythe dolls. Takara introduced the new type which was Excellent Blythe to the market. This type was similar to the Kenner Blythe but the only difference was materials that are used to produce dolls. For example, Cinnamon Girl was produced by special plastic and resins, which make doll’s skin brighter and shinier. EBL-type are Miss Anniversary Limited, EBL-01 Bohemian Beat and EBL-02 Asian Butterfly .

3. SBL-Type Superior Blythe:
Launched in 2004, this type is similar to the original Kenner Blythe (1972) but the differences are some parts, such as eyes. Moreover, there are some changes in the back of the dolls. There are more parts built in the back side of the dolls in order for the dolls to have higher durability. For example, SBL-01 Superior Skate Date, SBL-02 Very Inspired by Pow Wow Poncho and ROK-EX Velvet Minuet (Korea Exclusive)

4. RBL-Type Radiance Blythe:
In 2006, Radiance Blythe were produced and sold to the market. The bodies of this type are like SBL and EBL but the only difference is the curve of eye-lids. An eye lid of this type is deeper and has dimension. For example, Last Kiss, Star Dancer, Yukinonamidahime and Ichigo Heaven / TRU Japan 15th Anniversary LE (TRU EX)

* Limited prima ~ Marigold

Marigold is the latest limited prima, following the neon-bright Peony and Amaryllis. The retail price is 7,875 yen, but as she is limited to 1000, expect her price on the secondary market to skyrocket. I am personally don't like the yellow hair, it seems too fake to me but I guess the color can go well with some colors outfit and becoming very fashionable if you know how to costume her.

* Matryoshka Maiden

Matryoshka is with very nice skin tone and blonde wavy hair, she does bear a resemblance to Angelica Eve. Matryoshka Maiden has blushier cheeks and nice pinky lip colour. I really like her outfit and her very gold hair color, but I wish her hair could be longer so I can play more with it. She is wearing “the quintessential babushka, apron and dress with vivid patterns and wear the red hat” she is dresses as the children's book story" Little Red-Hat".she is priced at 13,440 yen.

how to cutting Blythe's hair bang?

1. blythe bangs First you have to section off the hair that will become the bangs. Sort out a triangular area, going about 1/2″ back from the hairline in the middle, and tapering to two points (on mine I used an imaginary line along the outside of her eyes).

2. blythe bangsBundle the section in a rubber band well below her face. Tease them so they are solid and even across her forehead. (If you pull them straight down, you will have a lump in the middle because the part is thick. Spread the hair from the part out to avoid the bulge!) I used a headband to hold them in place, a scrunchie would work too. Just use something cotton so it won’t be hurt by the iron! Also make sure that the rest of her hair is smooth and the part is perfect. Any hairs out of place will stay that way after step 3!

3. blythe bangsHeat up your iron to a high cotton setting. Mine goes from 1-7, I used #6 setting. Steam is not necessary, but won’t hurt.

Here’s the important part - put a WET towel completely over her head, covering all exposed hair. Press around her hairline area and across her forehead with the hot iron - it will make a sizzling sound and there should be lots of steam from the hot towel. Keep it moving around for at least 30 seconds. If you hear it stop sizzling, the towel is too dry - dampen it again. Look under the towel often and comb through any bangs that look out of place

4. blythe bangsTake off the towel and headband, but not the rubber band - make sure there are no gaps in the fringe! If it looks good, you can unplug your iron. If not, tease them as needed and repeat step 3.

5. blythe bangs While the hair is a little damp from the steam, cut to the desired length with sharp scissors. Take small snips at a time and use a fine-toothed comb to control it. Cut it a little longer than you want the final product - they will shorten up about 1/8″ as they dry out.

You can always take more off once they dry and settle into their natural position.

Feathered Bangs

blythe bangsFor feathered bangs, follow steps 1-3 above, but cut the hair MUCH LONGER than you want the final bangs (about an extra half inch, or in the center of the eye-hole). Holding your scissors vertically (parallel to the strands of hair) begin taking small, quick snips off of the tips of the hair until you have achieved the desired length and shagginess. feathered bangs look great on B-hair with a slight curl (just about all of them except LM, AB, and Piccadilly have “curly” hair).

History of Blythe

hi everyone! now it is time to share with you the Blythe history, so you will know how this popular doll was born! want to know more about Blythe? please keep reading it!

A BRIEF HISTORY OF BLYTHE AND HER REINCARNATION

Kenner girls

Manufactured by Kenner in 1972, the original Blythe was designed by Marvin Glass & Associates, one of the world's foremost toy design studios. When the Toy Industry Hall of Fame was established in 1984, Marvin Glass was in the first group inducted (which coincidently also included Merrrill L. Hassenfeld of Hasbro, Inc.), ten years after his death. Kenner was bought out by Tonka Toys, which in turn was bought out by Hasbro in the mid-1980s. And that is how Hasbro has come to own the Blythe property.

Then and now.

In 1972, children found the large eyes that changed from green to pink to blue to orange with the pull of the drawstring at the back of Blythe's head a bit on the scary side. Blythe was produced for only one year, but it is now apparent that she was ahead of her time. For many years, Blythe was a curiosity that only doll collectors were interested in. Then in 1997, a friend introduced Gina Garan to Blythe, thinking that Gina looked like the doll. Gina had just been given an old camera and she needed to test it. Her first photos using that camera were of Blythe. Gina, who works as a video and TV producer, started carrying at least one of her Blythes wherever she went on her travels around the world and took many photos.

In December 1999, at the opening of an exhibition for the CWC International artists in Soho, New York, Gina showed her photos to Junko Wong. Junko took these photos to Parco and made a presentation for an exhibition and as a "virtual model" for Parco's innovative sales promotions. In the summer of 2000, This is Blythe, photos by Gina Garan, was published by Chronicle Books. The Christmas 2000 Parco campaign featured Blythe in a TV commercial and print media and Blythe took off in Japan. On eBay, vintage Blythes jumped in price from $35 to $350. Blythe continued as Parco's "image girl" through the spring and into the summer of 2001. The price for vintage Blythes jumped to thousands of dollars U.S. on eBay. Even the Neo-Blythes are sold for up to four times their retail price on the Yahoo auction site in Japan.

In June 2001, the first of the Neo-Blythes - produced by CWC and manufactured by Takara - went on the market. The launch of the neo-Blythes was in conjunction with a photo exhibition by Gina Garan. Gina made the trip from New York for the launch and exhibition.

The Parco Limited Edition (1000 dolls), sold out in less than an hour, was followed by the Mondrian, and then Rosie Red, Holly Wood, All Gold In One, Kozy Kape Inspired, Aztec Arrival Inspired, Sunday Best, and in conjunction with the first year anniversary of the neo-Blythes in Japan, Miss Anniversary Blythe. The first year anniversary was marked by a series of Blythe events in Tokyo, which included an exhibition and charity fashion show at the Spiral Hall in Aoyama and exhibitions at the Rocket and CWC Galleries, and at IMS in Fukuoka, Kyushu. The exhibition featured photos by Gina Garan and dolls styled by artists, fashion designers, and Blythe fans. The fashion show featured couture for Blythe by such internationally known designers as: Issey Miyake, Chisato Tsumori, and Hysteric Glamour.

Sleeping Blythe

I have come across found these cute Blythe advertisement images online.
The sleeping Blythes are so cute and peaceful!
Not quite sure what product it is selling, beccause I can't read much Japanese... :(
But in my guess, it might be" sleeping pill"...??? am I right?

Blythe exhibition

Gina's friend has opened a new gallery and have chosen Gina and Blythe for their first exhibit:

Thank you Gina for taking such nice Blythe photos!

Just a few weeks ago I announced the winners of my 'heroes' contest and the number 1 slot went to gea* who did this hysterical mini-me version of Bob Dylan:

The other winners included:

'Hanoi Jane' by Terri Annie Liebovitz by Supervelma
